چکیده

The magnetic fields generated by power transmission/distribution equipments along with the possible chronic effects associated with them have been objects of study and concern over last decades. This work comes in this context of magnetic field possible chronic effects. The objective of this work is then, for some overhead distribution lines, to create three-dimensional models of the lines and to extrapolate the magnetic fields for close location with continuous exposure. For this makes use of specialized appropriated software, the EFC-400 from Narda company, and magnetic field measurements made in the vicinity of the overhead lines. The overhead lines studied attempt to cover every kind of overhead distribution lines existents in Portugal. The overhead lines are then three simple ones and two double ones. The simple ones are of 10, 30 and 60kV and the double ones are of 30 and 60kV.The obtained results show that, for the daily media charge, the only situation where the magnetic fields exceed the value of 1μT (reference limit value adopted by Switzerland) is in the residential buildings just near the 60kV double line.

Induction of chromosomal aberrations in human primary fibroblasts and immortalized cancer cells exposed to extremely-low-frequency electromagnetic fields

Background: Rapidly increasing possibilities of exposure to environmental extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) have become a topic of worldwide investigation. Epidemiological and laboratory studies suggest that exposure to ELF-EMF may increase cancer risk therefore assessment of chromosomal damage in various cell lines might be of predictive value for future risk es...

بررسی میزان میدان مغناطیسی بافرکانس بی‌نهایت پایین (ELF) شهر تهران در سال 1391

Introduction: The power transmission lines are the emission source of extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields that are considered to have an adverse impact on human health. Therefore the aim of this study was to evaluate the amount of magnetic flux with extremely low frequencies (ELF) around high voltage power transmission lines in the western areas of Tehran in 2012. Material a...

Does Exposure to Static Magnetic Fields Generated by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanners Raise Safety Problems for Personnel?

MRI workers are occupationally exposed to static and time-varying gradient magnetic fields.  While the 24-hour time-averaged exposure to static magnetic fields is about a few mT, the maximum static field strength can be as high as 500 mT during patient setup. Over the past several years, our laboratory has performed extensive experiments on the health effects of exposure of animal models and h...
